About
The Library of Re-Claimed Books is a collection of altered ex-library books that started as a personal endeavour to give new lease of life to books that have lost their original use value. The library has now evolved into a social art project, involving different libraries and the public.
The participatory artwork explors the interstice of the library and social art practice by situating the library as actual and imagined sites of new forms of social interaction.
Anyone can take part in the Library of Re-Claimed Books by altering an ex-library book. Once the altered book is received by the library, it will be catalogued, stamped, and uploaded onto the website. The books are currently catalogued under: Intervention (I), Boxed (B), Collage (C), Added/Affixed (A), and Folded (F).
The library is also taken to various artists book fairs and events where it functions as a reference library for visitors to engage with.
If you would like to take part in the project, please contact me and I will send you the details.
